  "On March 31, 1881 she was married to Joseph F. Davis in the Salt Lake temple. The young couple, together with Mr. and Mrs. Abner Richens came to Ashley Valley in October 1884. It took two weeks to make the trip, fording the rivers in Provo and Daniels canyons many times. The Duchesne river was forded seven times. Ashley Valley was just an open waste at that time. Few supplies could be brought, so many hardships were endured the following winter. They ate their first Christmas dinner with her sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Abner Richens. The dinner consisted of rabbit, rice, dried apples, bread and potatoes. Mr. Davis' health was very poor so she helped him all she could with his work in the field. They just got their grain in the shocks, when he died in October, leaving her with two small boys."
